The main fund-raising event of the year on the calendar above is the annual "Tiger Bay 1000" competition on the weekend of 24/25 May, which is open to all members of the general public as well as affiliated anglers, angling both from boats or from the side using any breaking strain line. This event is a true community project which draws anglers from all walks of life and receives wide-spread publicity from local newspapers, radio stations and sports magazines every year, making it the highlight on the EP Light Tackle Boat calendar.
The duration of the competition is 7 hours and the venue is the Swartkops River. Approximately 300 anglers participate every year to compete for the excellent prizes up for grabs.
- First prize for the heaviest tiger is R1000.00 irrespective of whether the angler is male, female, senior or junior.
- First prize for males: R 500.00
- First prize for females: R 500.00
- First prize for juniors: R 500.00
- Sealed weight prize: R 300.00
- Lucky attendance draw: R 750.00
Via sponsorship the club is able to have lucky draw prizes for all the competitors, which are drawn during the prize giving.
Added to this, each competitor receives a pocket badge and is entitled to take part in a lucky R500.00 draw on the Saturday night.
Also included is a dance at the clubhouse on both the Friday and Saturday nights, which is free of charge for all entrants to the competition. All in all it is a real value for money fun weekend.
Should individuals or companies wish to become part of this event through sponsorship, their assistance will be most welcome and greatly appreciated.
In this regard, the club always has a need for:
- Products which could be used for the attendance prizes.
- Products which could be used for a "Happy Hour" during the dances and prize giving.
- Sponsorship of any nature for any of the prizes.
Any sponsor will have the right to display add banners, advertising boards, etc. at the club for the whole weekend. This will be
beneficial in respect of the wide-spread publicity received through magazines, newspapers and the radio.
